Special Guests Help Fire Up The Crowd, New Scoreboard

Lakehill Warrior spirit revved to full throttle on Friday afternoon at the annual Tailgate Pep Rally. The Varsity cheerleaders pumped up the crowd as teams and coaches were introduced.

First grade student Sierra Salazar and second grade student Jack Van Duinen were the special guests. Sierra, Lakehill's "Cheerleader for the Day," performed with the Varsity squad at the Pep Rally as well as at the game Friday night.

As the "Warrior for the Day," Jack joined the football team for the Pep Rally, where he received his special team jersey. He also spent some time in the locker room before the game and led the Warriors onto the field. The opportunity to be Lakehill's "Cheerleader for a Day" or "Warrior for the Day" is offered to the highest bidder each year at the Parent Faculty Club Benefit Auction.

Lakehill held its annual Tailgate Party on Friday evening before the Warriors' Varsity Football season home opener against Inspired Vision.

Hundreds of fans gathered at the Warrior Athletic Complex to enjoy the pre-game festivities. Volunteers passed out souvenir footballs at the gate, while the Lakehill Dad's Club fired up the grill, preparing more than 600 hot dogs to feed the hungry crowd.

A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was held prior to the game in honor of the new scoreboard, sponsored by Comerica Bank. Pam Zeko, representing Comerica Bank, cut the ribbon with Lakehill Headmaster Roger Perry and Athletic Director Bob Yttredahl. Comerica Bank has been a dedicated partner of Lakehill throughout the years, with ongoing sponsorship of events including Trek for Tech and the Dad's Club Chili Cook-Off. When the old scoreboard fizzled at the end of last season, Comerica came to the rescue, and Friday night was all about celebrating their generous contribution.

For the first time in Lakehill history, the pre-game show and entire Varsity game were streamed live on Friday night. The first broadcast featured the student production team of Leo Nussenzveig (camera operator), Noah Bernstein (commentator), and James Girards (computer technician). Lakehill is now a part of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Network. Beginning with Friday's game, the school will be live streaming several events online at www.nfhsnetwork.com.These events will also be available on demand on the new Lakehill channel.

Lakehill alumnus and board member Brad Bartholow watched Friday's game live from California. "This is amazing," he texted to Headmaster Perry. "What an exciting day for Lakehill."
