New owners for 43rd Antique Elegance Show

The 43rd Antique Elegance Show will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 1 and 2, 2015 at the Richardson Civic Center, 411 W. Arapaho, Richardson, TX.  Admission is $6 per person and is good both days.

Aileen and John Brady became the new management team of The Antique Elegance Show in January 2015 after former owner, Steven Porterfield retired. The couple has worked to expand and diversify the event.

The Brady’s bring a complimentary mix of talents to the show. Aileen has over 40 years of experience in business management, having owned and managed successful retail stores in Texas and John is an experienced technical manager. They both have backgrounds in theater where they worked together as a creative team to produce many successful shows. Both are avid antique collectors and are very familiar with the Antique Elegance show since they have been part of the show’s family for years as Sugar’s Vintage.  Their February show was a well-attended success and the Valentine’s Day Vintage Fashion Show and Tea was sold out in advance.

Antique Elegance® is a Treasure Trove of unique and fine quality vintage items. Twice a year vintage enthusiasts from all over the world get together to celebrate style and antiques at this exceptional show. The dealers offer a wide variety of high quality antiques including: vintage textiles, clothing and accessories, hats, purses, estate jewelry, furniture, glassware, art pottery, fine silver, toys, dolls, photographs, sheet music, post cards, buttons, handmade lace, advertising, books, quilts, tablecloths and fine linens, European art and antiques, and more.

On Saturday, August 1 at 1 p.m., the Vintage Radio and Phonograph Society will be giving a talk on the history of radios and phonographs and discuss collecting and restoring them. Mike Grimes with the Vintage Radio and Phonograph Society will do a talk about the history and evolution of radios and phonographs. Guests will be able to find out if their radio or phonograph is rare and what it is worth and learn about collecting, restoring and appreciating antique radios and phonographs.

On Sunday, August 2 at 2 p.m., Lisa Erlandson from the Dallas Quilters Guild will give a talk on vintage quilts titled “She Spoke with her Needle”. Lisa will be showing some exquisite antique quilts and talk about the history of quilting and the women who made them. She will have a booth with a vintage quilt display and will do individual appraisals.

The talks are included in the cost of the $6.00 ticket to the Antique Show which is good for Saturday and Sunday.

Monkey Crêpe Café & Catering will be serving sandwiches and desserts at the show. The cafe has reintroduced Crêpes to the greater DFW area with locations at the Dallas World Trade Center and Dallas Market Center. They have become widely known for serving fine, fresh and organic ingredients in an upscale "monkey sort of fashion." Included on the menu will be sandwich crepes made with veggies, chicken salad, turkey or ham. They all come with mixed greens and choice of mayo, mustard or pesto sauce. The Monkey Business Dessert crepes are a choice of strawberries and Bavarian cream, or whipped cream or chocolate Bavarian cream with bananas and dark chocolate sauce.
